5th Gear Clunking

I recently discovered a slight "clunk" on my bike when cruising in 5th gear. I only notice it if the road is fairly smooth, I can feel it in my pegs and handlbars. It almost feels like I'm taking the slack out of a splined shaft.

If I'm rolling along and ever so slightly roll off the throttle, then back on, it'll give me a little clunk or pop shortly after applying throttle. I'm assuming it's just lash coming out of the driveline, but it's not instant like I would think lash would be, it takes a second.

Bike is a 2017 Roadster with about 3000 miles on it. Purchased 6/2018.

Anyone else notice anything like this? Is it something I should be concerned about?

i think if i had it on my bike i would take it back to the dealer and have them take a look...at least that way you have bought it to their attention should it get worse down the track a bit.

Think I'll do that next week. Hopefully they don't just blow it off.

Not sure what you mean by gassing up, but its around 2500 - 3000 rpm usually. Its very slight, only really feel it in the pegs and a bit in the bars.

He was trying not to alarm you ....yet.;):cautious:
If so, at just 3000 miles old may be a record, so I would doubt it.:thumbsup::cool:

strange gearbox occurance

Sadly Albertaduke had more issues and after fixing them all his 2013 R3R was destroyed in a garage shop fire only to have the same infliction occur on his 2012 replacement R3R.

Just a thought....you may have already done this but...
Go right around the bike with allen keys and star drive sockets if that's the case, and check and tighten everything. Look under the radiator shroud too...under the radiator...everything. Tighten everything you can...there will be movement for sure. It just may be a loose something that is transferring a sound...might not be either but at the very least, you will now be happy everything is checked and tight.

Oh fantastic!

It only does it when I roll off the throttle then GENTLY roll back on. I noticed it when I was pacing a car in front of me, if that gives you an idea of how gentle i have to be to notice it. Once I'm back on the juice it pulls very solidly.

It honestly feels like it's the front rotors "clicking". I can replicate a similar feeling by holding the front brake and rocking the bike in neutral. I don't know that they would/should do that while rolling though.

I might be a tad paranoid considering this is my first brand new bike ever, plus I've read about these transmission horror stories.

I'll give that a go as well. I'm used to tightening stuff on bikes all the time. My other ride is a 650 thumper, it rattles everything loose.
