255 Horsepower R3

The cross over point (imho) is when reliability suffers and parts begin to break. This is when the fun factor and BSD club begins to get old...

As for launching a bike with massive torque...did you mean on the street or track because there is a HUGE difference. Your not holding the throttle WOT and sliding the clutch at a street light start...you gradually roll on...your not going to break the ass end loose despite having massive torque numbers IF your gradual...a fast snap of the throttle and its quite the view from the driver in the car behind you.

My turbo busa (even when it had a baby turbo kit making just under 300 rwhp and 150 ft/lbs) on pump gas would spin the tire for 200-300 feet in 4th gear at 100mph going down the highway. It would look like someone had a paint brush painting a black line down the road behind me. Just realized how much fun my turbo busa was on the street.....maybe I need to get another one...

Thats exactly why i went down the Lush road...when you see the k's on some of his builds and the way some of the guys (lunatics is probably more appropriate) ride you know you are buying reliability. As for other companies...surely they cant be completely bad, but in fairness i cant comment as i was a virgin when it comes to more than doubling the power of a bike and having fewer reliability issues than stock guys so I only speak from my account.

274 is NM which as you say is about 202ish when you americanize it.

Isn't that a bit like having too much penis? Can't always use it but very nice to know it's there? Of course I don't have to worry about either.
I agree, its nice to have it, its like freedom, money, love, etc...you can live without it, but hey, having it in abundance makes for an easier happier life so i'll take it!

Yeah, ive had a toy or two in my life with insane numbers when it come to power etc, but at my age (ripe old 39) its kinda more fun having the go in something that looks aas though it doesn't...always fun overtaking two sports bikes dragging

On the track, well lets just say my Rocket hasnt seen one so shhhh...don't tell her they exist, she'll want to go and a track is no place for a girl like mine. Riding a race bike on the road...well...to me it's like walking in to a candy store with $200billion dollars and looking at what you can buy...its just no fun knowing you are using 20% of your bikes ability and hear in Aus our best riding roads usually dont have safe barriers between lanes caring on coming traffic. So having a sleeper that can dance is my perfect partner.... put me on an ice rink with a figure skater and it just aint fun!

I'd buy it in an instant I've seen it its a beauty and rockets are worth a lot more here in aus mate if u pulled out $8k you would have a deposit lol

Warp9.9 Thanks for your reply! I'm glad to see how well made the rockets are and that they held up with all the " Build UP " miles on them. By the way your bike is awesome!

Yea I was going to post a thread on how the Rocket is treated in the UK and such. Over here no one knows what my bike is. I get a LOT of folks, riders and non riders, that ask a lot of questions. Most state how "Beautiful" the bike is. (My bike is always garage kept, fresh washed and waxed) But if you go on the bike trader there are few used and the used prices are in the tank.

Allow me to expound on my statement also. Yes I would dump the money into my bike for some Carpenter type work, but I am an investor. I have rental properties and such and things out in California, as all over the world, are not so sunny and bright that I want to pull out a bunch of hard cash and dump it into a toy. For me, with where I am at with my Rocket and for the type of riding I do, It's just fine.

Funny how so many folks don't have a clue to what a Rocket is. Had mine only 3 months and I've had at least 30 questions and/or comments - "That a 6 cylinder?" Go figure . . .:kk:

Was at my local indepandant Harley shop the other day, owners a good bloke but not a fan of Triumphs. Especially don't like Rockets , reckons they are one of the ugliest bikes on the road.. fair enough , everyones entitled to their opinions Told him i've had more people praise the Rocket than any HD i've ever owned. Just as i'd finished telling him that two young fells stuck their heads into the shop and asked if it was ok to take a photo of the Rocket (i was on Ponters bike) .. i just laughed and told him it happens all the time , cause it does young fellas hung around and waited to hear me fire it up and waved as i rode out

It happens so often. Makes for part of the fun of owning a Rocket. i esspecially love the old timers that love to have a yarn about the triumph. Met an ex Bike copper who used to test all the bikes for the cops when he was in service. A top old guy that kept me entertained for 20 mins in Young on the way up to Hervey Bay. To me that type of thing is what owning a bike is about. pulling over anywhere and anyone will just walk up say g'day and recount a story about an old Trumpy.

have met some gems of people all because of my Rocket. Including some living legends ive met on this site, makes owning a rocket like nothing else on earth.
