2012 versus 2014

Only one data point here matters: ABS.

Buy the ABS bike.

Since they both have it buy the one with a better maintenance history.

I totaled out me 2009 rocket back on May 1st. I'm still recovering but I'm now shopping for a new one and I'm looking at a 2012 flat black and a 2014. Both are flat black rosters and the only mods are windshield, saddlebags sissy-bar and such. nothing for power. The 12 is asking $9,000 and the 14 is asking $9,800.
What are the known issues with either? The 12 does not have ABS but it was the first year for this on the 14. Any issues with this?
Thanks for any assistance.
my 2012 roadster has ABS .. check the 2012 for sale if it is really a 2012 in doubt buy the 2014 ... eventually you may also have to take the 2014 transmission to robinson's industries for back cutting and replacement of #4 gear several 2012 and newer have had the problem of gears separating intermittently while riding.

If it was me, i would go for the 14. The first thing i would do would be to do an oil change...for your own peace of mind. That and the filter. I run Amsoil fully synthetic, the reason being it is not only a great oil but it quietens everything down, gear changes included.
Chances are the current owner has done his first oil change but if he hasnt it will still have the running in oil in it. Best to start out knowing what you have.

I have to agree with you about Amsoil, I've found that engine runs much quieter. Go for the 2014
