2009 Rocket 3 Touring
Morning everyone,
I picked up a new Blue 09 R3T yesterday from Pete's cycle in Delaware and road it back to CT (365 miles). INCREDIBLE. What a nice bike. Wonderful ride through the Delaware water gap.
I thought the bike was going to be a bear to throw around. I only weight 185. When riding it ,it didn't " feel " any heaver than my America. Very smooth. But when you twist it... it doesn't hang around and think about going like any other bike I ever rode. When you twist it, Hang the f@$% on !!
Sound is funny. Kind of a whirling noise. No rumble.... This need to be addressed. I'll need to set up a fund for that.
Also , as I wrote here before. I thought I wouldn't be able to ride without a tach.... What tach, We don't need no stinkin' tach. Never missed it. What a nice bike
I went 150 miles and filled up. I got 41 MPG. Went another 125 and got 45 MPG. That was going between 60 and 70.

"only 185"

I only weigh 150lbs. I never had any trouble "throwing the bike around". My problem was getting comfortable on the beast. It's just a massive bike; wide bars, seat, etc... nice power delivery, however, and overall a nice bike.

Re: Tach

IMNSHO, if you can't figure out what gear you're in or when to shift, etc... without a tach, you probably have no business riding a motorcycle. Of course, drag racers are excluded from that comment.

Sounds like you had a great ride back to CT. Look up Jeff Lee when you get up there, he bought mine last month, you can ride around together. Congrats on the new beast.

Terry,

What part of CT are you in? I am in MA at the intersection of RI , CT and MA. I also have a R3T. Great bike. This is my second Rocket. The first was a standard Rocket. I also have gotten used to no tach. The bike doesn't need it. I put a set of TORS on my R3T. Adds a little deep throat but not obnoxiously loud. I am pretty satisfied with the set up. Good luck with teh new bike!

Congrats on the new R3T, Terry.

I've had mine almost a year and love it more every day. Just ready to hit the road for a 3-week, 10K ride around this great Nation. I'll update you as to its performance, but I would guess that it'll all be good news.

I've made some mods to make it more personalized, but it's good to go as stock.

Ride safe and let us know what you do with your new bike!

Dan
