2005 Rocket III FInal Drive Oil Leak

I know what you're saying. I do have the shop manual but haven't wrenched in a very long time. Serious wrenching is what I mean. I still do oil changes, final drive, spark plugs, but that's about it.
Thanks for your message.

I'm with you. Would hate to have to pay another guy to mess with my rearend

Got to work noticed very dark oil dripping out drain hole, I think I over did it with the molly paste

The melted grease that @IMFASTOO referred to above I presume would be low temp, possibly non moly or well under 60% moly grease seeping from the wheel and drive unit interface and eventually smearing over the outside lower bevel drive casing accumulating road grime isn't it?

I found that when cleaning my bike after the 3000km RDU and Brisbane run. I had a new rear tyre fitted at the local triumph dealer shortly before the trip and had asked them to grease the splines but did not confirm the grease used.

If you have gear oil dark or otherwise dripping from the drain plug itself wouldn't that be from the bevel drive internal gear case itself or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Not coming from the drain plug mate, coming out the square inspection hole plastic surround of the rear drive, has stopped now.

those splines only need a smear of grease (a little dab will do ya) any grease outside the contact area of the splines is only going to fly off and make you anxious ,a bit like uni joints on a car/truck drive shaft only load them up till you see new grease coming out then give them a wipe
