My rocket has a new house mate .......... I bought a used one of these in 1995, and later traded it on a new red 1996 Daytona 1200. Of course much later I wish I hadn't, but it always seems like a good idea at the time.

It just goes to show that all of Bloor's early work on the rebirth of Triumph (Hinckley) in 1990 to make em reliable and longlasting paid dividends ........... cause Triumph is still a major worldwide brand over a quarter of a century later. Otherwise we wouldn't be riding rockets I suppose.

This particular bike is one of only 14 Daytona 1000 sports that made it to Australia in 91/92 ............ it is in stunning original condition and is running and riding beautifully. 20170119_172923.jpg

Got to be awfully rare, I never heard of a Daytona 1000, never heard one ever mentioned on the Triumph rat site.

Initially there were also 750 daytonas. My understanding is that a little over 500 of the Daytona 1000s were made and distributed worldwide. The 750 and 1000 daytonas were quite quickly replaced by the 900 and 1200 daytonas in 1993 which had longer stroke engines (I think)

My partner has a Triumph Daytona 1000 sport also known as the Jubilee in need of restoration in the UK so if you hear of anyone interested in the UK...she needs a good home.
