Turbocharged
So I was just cruising around the Maryland countryside yesterday evening when my tranny literally exploded. I casually shifted from 2nd to 3rd and it revved like it was in neutral. I only felt very minor vibrations and nothing alarming, no wheel lockup, but I had lost 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Engine ran fine and I thought I might limp home in 2nd but I noticed an oil trail after a couple miles. Upon closer examination, I discovered the literal hole in my transmission case. At least a kindred spirit brought me a couple cold PBRs during my 2-hour wait for the tow truck. I had it towed to a local reputable shop last night, but I'm looking for advice on where to go from here.
- Is it worth it to have the shop start digging into this, splitting the engine, finding all the damage, attempting to repair?
- File an insurance claim?
- Buy an engine off eBay and do a swap?
- Tow it to a Triumph dealer and ask them and/or Triumph corporate to look into it?
