The new recommended oil is Castrol Power RS Racing 4T. I used the 10W40 as recommended. O'Reilly's had it on sale for $7.00 a quart a while back. It has about the same specs. as Mobil.Marty;)

I looked for the castrol before I spent the money on the Mobil. But did not see it at Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, or Wally World. I need to swing into a bike dealer and see what they offer but normally they are expensive no matter what your buying..

Wally's World Mobil 1 5-40 for Turbodiesels has all the right and good stuff in it!

Available in 5 qt containers for about $5.40/qt! Walmart.com: Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40, 1 gal: Automotive

It works exceptionally well in the R3.;)

So this oil is ok for the wet clutches? Learn something new everyday. :D

I guess I waste oil because I like to change mine every 5000 miles or so and not at the 10,000 recommended.

Its not a waste if you want the best for your bike. The cylinders have very little blow by. Its the trans. that breaks down the oil. Change your oil however often you like. I go by how my bike shifts after a long hard ride, when the oil is at its peak temp. If the shift is not smooth then its time to change. I also go by color and smell of the oil. Its just me and some advice from some professional bike mechanics.
