since those of us that have commmentd have had tanks( and pumps?) off a few times ask yourself this quiestion...
Hmmm If I removed all the fuel pump assembly etc, and just installed a plate on the bottom of the stock tank with a fitting for a fuel line .
now that fuel line runs into a second box type tank under the seat.
with the stock triumph fuel pump filter assembly etc in side it ( maybe shorted sending unit rod etc ) ehhh? maybe? been thinking of tryign to do that for a while. but don't have the right tools to "create" a tank.
wouldn't the stock tank hold a little bit more fuel? wouldn't it gravity feed to the bottom tank?
the bottom tank would pump to the engine. might be able to squeeze a total of 3 or more gallons out of the deal? also your low fuel light wouldn't come on until te aux tank was getting low.. by then youd want to stop anyway
I think from your post, it'd create a vacuum.
But I'm sure that in your minds eye,
you've thought of that and eliminated that problem.
A simple vent tube would cure it after all.
Why not just enlarge the tank we already have?
Thats what I'm doin'.
evening everyone i just ordered the triple k&n's for my bike and i was told that to really make the job a lot easier it is best to remove the tank. now as far as i can see there is no shut off valve on the tank so the pump must be in the tank itself. if i am right do i just remove the wiring and hoses and the tank will not leak only the remainder that is in the hose. any information on this is greatly appreciated thanks and ride safe
I installed the K & N's with just propping the tank on the tank rod. The plumbing removal isn't hard at all. The hardest filter to fit is the one on the crank case vapor return pipe, not the throttle bodies. The intake runner from the filter box has to be wiggled out but you don't have to pull the tank to do it. It just depends on how much interference you're willing to live with. Good luck. If you run into a sticking point, don't get frustrated, post up the problem, we've been there, done that.
I agree 100%.
That crankcase vent is a bugger to put on.
you really need little bitty monkey hands,
but it can be done,
I just wish I knew an easier way to do it.
