I bought Jardine pipes and loaded the tune from tuneboy for Jars and triple filters. I unchecked the box for the O2 sensor in Tuneboy and unplugged it and have a check engine light.
Questions:
1. Do I need a O2 bypass/delete plug?
2. If the check engine light is on does that mean it is...
Running 15+ PSI boost puts stress on an engine. It's a good idea to regularly check for developing problems, rather than wait for catastrophic damage. A leak down test will find burned valves, broken rings, and of course holed pistons and blown head gaskets. Don't confuse the leak down test with...
Anyone know a company other than Rivco or Triumph that makes engine guards for our bike? I was looking to get some like Lindby makes that have integrated highfootrests in them for the road. I also, figure it will help widen the bars enough to actually protect the foot boards and linkages if it tips.
Here is an odd question for a Friday night -
Anyone ever try the "engine bolt head finisher kit"?
I have the R3T and the part number looks the same for all Rockets -
Does anyone know if it's possible to powdercoat an r3 engine with all the innards still assembled (cases not split and disassembled). I'm told the engine would be at 450 degrees for about 30 minutes. It's very expensive to take the engine apart and gutted for coating. If the engine can't handle...
I'm looking for a better tool to make timing changes to my IC SC R3 than just the dyno step tests. The small changes we've made so far have improved torque, but I need a better way to detect detonation as we approach the timing limits. To that end, I'm looking at TFX Engine Technology using...
Short of completely disassembling my new R3 (that will wait until the end of the year), I would like to know if the members here have some of the following data:
Cam centerlines (as the cams are degreed stock)
Rod length
piston dish volume
piston height - pin center to top of piston...
heres the deal,
I reflashed my ECU because I sorta thought I should do that from time to time...
used tuneboy many times, never a problem, reloaded the same tune, packed up the lap top and headed out for Daytona... funny thing is teh check engine light was one when I fired up and pulled...
Can anyone tell me if the standard OBD2 system can be used on the R3? Or is the Triumph tool required and if so, is it available...? Thanks, Gary in Ohio
Have a problem with mine now at 5700km. Knocking noise in engine clearly heard @ 2000-3500RPM.
Dealer says there is play on gudging pin and have to rebuild complete motor. Pioston is touching head. Anybody same problem?
I too have been researching every Rocket for sale in America for purchase. I test drove one a while back and was pretty much sold.
I've read the 17 pages of posts about the timing chain failure, and I got "vuja de," a place I don't want to go all over again. About 30 years ago, I bought a new...
I bought a preowned 2005 Rocket in January 2007 with 6,000 miles. Since then I did everything possible to have the feeling that the engine runs smoothly. I actually got little fluctuating idle pattern, some "hesitating" engine operation with a constant low throttle opening while riding and small...
R3Owners.Net underwent a conversion on it's search engine, to better support advanced things like phrase matching.
Speak up if you notice anything weird.
:o HI - JUST WONDERING IF YOU COULD HELP ME OUT. I BOUGHT A 2006 ROCKET RECENTLY AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS LOCATING THE ENGINE NUMBER. COULD YOU TELL ME WHERE IT IS LOCATED ON THE ENGINE BLOCK
Hi all. Having a little issue. In very cold weather (like -10C), the beast is not easy to start. It won't fire on first round of crank (approx. 2 secs of turn). Second try and it pops and sputters, but doesn't usually hold. Third round does the trick. Then, for at least 60 seconds, it...
I'm still trying to ascertain what or where the engine build number is. The only number referred to is the serial number on the right side case so if one assumes the engine build number is incorporated therein, it must be the last 6 numbers as the first numbers are the origin and model number...
i went to the irish bike week last weekend ,and at first my prob began with my bike cutting out whilst riding along but a quick pull of the clutch it started no probs , this occured twice in 200 miles , but in the end it came to a halt and wouldnt start any more even though the engine turned...
20050_3's ignition is retarded 3 degrees in all cells from 2,000 RPMs to 7,000 RPMs in the 50% to 100% throttle position while 20145_1's ignition is retarded 3 degrees in the same fashion except the retarding starts at 2,200 RPMs instead of 2,000 RPMs.
If you put Jardines and triples (foam or...
