I started to ride the VMax, but I'd never buy one so there was not much point to it. I may, at some point, buy a Japanese Sport Tourer if Triumph doesn't come up with one. I'd much prefer to stay with Triumph as I love the brand and there's nothing in this world like a Triple.

Hey Daryl,

Have you ridden the new R1200RT? Might be worth a try before you look too close at the Big 4 for a Sport Tourer. Its not a triple but they're getting some decent performance from the old flat twin these days.

Yes, I've looked at them. BMWs are nice. My only issue with them is good luck finding dealers. The closest one to me is 150 miles away.

Wow, that sucks. I've got 2 within 15 miles and one of the best in the country 90 miles away. Maybe you should just buy one and when its within 1000 miles of needing service ship it to me and I'll take care of it for you. Note that's 1000 miles not 100 miles, very important distinction.

I don't think I'll be buying anymore bikes for awhile; finally happy with what I have. It's taken me going through a couple of bikes to get to this point, however.

Daryl, I'm glad you are finally where you are, must be nice to have a choice. As you know right now I've got nutt'n...here or there.

When are you going to change your ride in your description? I don't think we'll hold it against you as you still have a Triumph...or two.

DUMB and DUMBER

Dave,

I came *this* close to calling you, but got a call from one of my friends about riding over with his Dad and BIL. I didn't check out any of the cruisers. I *almost* rode the VMax, but was more interested in checking out the FJR.

p.s. Thanks for calling me, you Lug! :(
THE VMAX is a different animal it wasnt designed as a touring bike and only holds 4 gallons of fuel but for and all round rider a lot more fun than any of those sport touring rigs THATS why you need more than 1 bike in the garage :D I have a lot more fun on the muscle bikes VMAX,ROCKETT3 than any of those uncomforatable pogostick sport bikes that i owned in the past you spend 99% of the time just cruising and it makes no sense to ride a sport bike that rides like **** and has you scrunched up in a road racing position all day only to have you ass handed to you at the stop light by a vmax or R3 rider who was cruising in comfort all day :p The sport bikes are for pimple faced squids wearing shorts t tops ,flip flops and no helmet doing wheelys and stoppys aND REVING INTO THE LIMITER to show off  DUH :D

Well, as you can probably tell by the bikes I own, I'm not into wheelies, stoppies, etc... either. I'm also not into drag racing from light to light, etc... I don't own, much less wear, flip flops, etc... I DO, however, own, and often wear, a nice pair of Paul Stanley riding manties. :)

I'm really happy with the two bikes I have now and I don't see myself changing bikes for awhile. When I am ready, however, I'll likely go with a Sport Touring bike like the Honda ST 1300 or Kawasaki Councours. The new BMW sounds really appealing as it has the creature comforts of the other two, but is a good 100 lbs (or more) lighter. One of the things I like about my Tiger is it's relatively light (just over 500 lbs ready to ride weight) and pedals about the corners pretty darn good.
