Wow, just installed my GI Pro

Hellfire did help. Mostly by advising me to take a break before I broke something expensive. So far, only the fuel sensor is shot (and I'm hoping that's just a fuse).

I'm ready to get back in there and try it again.

I am thinking that the wiring in the R3T GPS coupler is different than on the R3Classic. I'll attach photos, but there are two idetical black/violet wires (and disconnecting neither wire does the trick).

Has anyone done this mod on a R3T?

Standard and Classic GiPro install

Dan, here are the results of taking mine apart again .... I broke it. I snapped off the power wire I was warning you about and had to resolder it. Thats the second time I did it. (remember, if the power is interupted you must check the setting again, 3 is prefered) The plug on mine only has two wires. It is the top plug on the "plug-tree" located behind the panel. The wires to be removed are the bottom two, Black/Violet (the manual actually calls it black/pink) and Black. The white plugs also have the power wires showing in the plastic shirink tubing Black and Red, those go to the battery (+) and ground (-). You can see in the second photo the top plug with the bottom wires removed and inserted into the white connectors from the GiPro. The correct set of wires are wrapped in a fabric weave. Remember, this is how it will look AFTER the correct installation.
Here are the photos ..... I left them HUGE to be easier to see.




This picture below shows the sensor and its location near the drive-shaft. It is the one with the blue mark.

Touring bikes have 3 wire GPS, (didn't know that) .......

Yes, the Rocket III Touring has a 3-pole connector (not 2-pole, like the normal Rocket III model).
But the GIpro can be installed the same way.
- The Pink and Black/Violet leads should be inserted into the 2p plug adapters.
The rest of the install is the same.

According to this, substitute the solid Pink from the sensor for the solid Black stated in the installation instructions. Use the Black/Violet dirrectly across from it coming from the bike.

Dan is being the guinee pig and doing it now, when he finishes and if it comes out right, the others with touring bikes shouldn't have all this trouble.

The three wire GPS was a new one, but it's still an easy install. Dan had it all done except for that little problem unique to Touring. Some day I'd like to find out just why it has an extra wire. I'm also very interested in finding out just how well it works for a touring bike, it's too bad it was raining like hell just when he finished it. Do we know what a stock R3T has for tuning and what the timing and secondaries are doing in 4th?
 
I'm dying to hear what some others reactions to the GiPro is, I love the thing, I know there will be some different results based on whether the bike is stock or varying degrees of modification like secondaries, PCIII's and stuff. I see that some have recieved it from the group buy and not yet installed it, when you guys get around to plugging it in I'd like to hear what you think about it.
I may be more excited that you got one than you are. lol

Robert you have probably been following along and read about the three wire GPS thing that Dan ran into with his touring model, his is a 2009 R3T. But just in case you missed it I wanted to point it out to you. He was going to post some pictures later on to show which wires ended up being the ones to pull.
