Wow, just installed my GI Pro

Please excuse Hellfire's frustration as he's explained this several times for others, albertaduke. He's also suffering from deep depression as he's just returned from the Mexican Riviera to way too much snow still on the ground where he lives!

It would be helpful if you would post that pic anyway to help out those to come who will be equally befuddled due to the poor instructions that came with the unit. Also, you hadn't specified the R3 model you own, so without knowing if you had the Touring model, which has the connector in a slightly diff location and requires utilizing diff colored wires than on Classics or Standards, we still would not have been able to help you, as we normally do.

and to make the story interesting I cut all the wires from the stupid connectors with locking devices from the GIPRO and the bike ,installed some simpler rubberized connections works fine
tomorrow we get the girl out for a ride ......... should be interesting..

you are right I have a 2006 classic bright yellow (should have mentioned it) and I was looking under the tank which I lifted till the GIPRO salesman sent me a picture . I am going to try to move it to this forum for those like me .
for those contempleting the installation the connectors mentioned in the instruction manual are in front of the left side tin panel just behind the fuel injection ramp in plain view right in front of the frame down tube not under the fuel tank where there are a bunch of electric connectors as I thought . also those connectors are not the easiest to work with the look like one way deal to me .
I have some thin rubberized connectors that fit and can be released without tools so I did cut all the provided connectors threw them away and replaced everthing. that it

My comment was not only like Phil said, but I was leaving for work and knew exactly what you were going through.
It's the words they choose for the directions that is at the root of the initial confusion.
"Under the fuel tank" is their biggest error, combined into the sentance "Remove the small cover on the left hand side under the fuel tank (two torx screws).", ruins your whole day. It's not as bad as translated Chinese, but there's a difference between "Under" and "Below" in English. I was there and bought the t-shirt (ripped it into very small pieces, doused it in gasoline, set fire to it then rolled around in the ashes), so I feel your pain.
Anyway .... that teacher from grade school would also say something ****ty like "do your homework" too. There is much information in past postings (along with SOME pictures) that will help alot, if you are new to the site it might be difficult for you to find it easily. I had the noble intention of starting from scratch on my own bike and taking photos along the way to help newbies, but last time I went back just to look at how many wires were on the plug ... I broke the wires... said f-it and sat soldering/cursing the idea. If you run into trouble try using the search feature to go back and review past discussions on exactly what you are going through now. I'm also happy to help (despite what you might think of me after this) and will answer questions if I know the information. I'm a GiPro nut and feel somewhat responsible for getting everyone into this monkey barrel who runs into difficulties, but it's well worth the effort and don't give up. After the install there might be some quirks to the settings I could help with (those instructions aren't written much better), let me know.

what matter Hellfire is that thing end up the way they are supposed to and tomorrow (Snow is melting just enough in the back lane ) I will try this gipro wonder and get to ride. all else is blown in the wind
one also should emphasize the silly business of trying to disconnet wires from these connectors I could not remove them as specified . I tried and tried then I cut all wires off and installed some motorcycle rubberized connectors I had in my tool box . much simpler ..

I nearly had the same idea after messing around with the pins awhile, but they really do come out easily if you hold your mouth just right. Seriously though, there IS a tool made just for that purpose and if you've done it before, can be easy to do with a small screwdriver. I think the makers could have saved more problems for customers by suggesting that the pin removal tool is available at radio shack cheap. If cutting and splicing did the job, the tests passed and it works without coming apart later down the road .... great! You might have an easier way for others to do it too.

you really don't want to do that..
Now, thats just my humble opinion,
but I honestly believe anyone who has tried "unleashing the beast" within,
would be sorely disappointed having to go back to stock power and torque again.
In fact, I can say that my wifes RED Rocket, is DEFINETLY slower now for sure.

GIPRO ...again

OOPS!!

hellfire your knowledge of fixing the gipro is needed ... ..
here is what happen all wires are seemingly connected properly, the neutral light come on, the display show zero ,I hit the start button motor start no problem, I release the clutch no problem, I squeeze the clutch lever again engage first gear the display shows first gear and the engine stop running instantly . any idea? I have tried numerous times same story ever time probably something simple but what??



I knew I should have listened to my mother and stay away from this tinkering, now it is too late and I missed one great day of riding .
