There has been some discussion here about one of the improvements to our big bikes is better brakes, and one option is the 6-piston PRETECH calipers. And putting them on, would be nice to have upgraded brake lines . . . hence the question.

A call to HEL says, "Oh, we're working on a kit for your bike."

Well, if I had the measurements, I'd just go ahead and specify my own "kit", and install the calipers and lines at the same time, bleeding the brakes once.

Unlike the current configuration, with the Y, I'm thinking run the line down to one caliper, then run another line in a loop over to the other side.

The rear should be a "straight" shot.

Thank you.

I have looked into this very same issue.
If you have ABS, as I do, there are multiple rear brake lines connecting into OEM pieces.
Looks to be factory specific and a tad complex to me.
If somebody comes out with a proper fitting kit - I'm all over it!

Easier (and imo better) just run a line straight to each calliper and a double banjo bolt at the M/C. But again ABS up front may change things.

I was told that our brake lines were good enough and not to bother changing/upgrading as they are stainless steel braided lines anyway. Maybe the lines are stronger with the ABS models??????
How does installing bigger callipers put extra pressure on the brake lines as the fluid force is generated by the master cylinder. I would not think my brake lines are expanding when I apply some brakes - that would be dangerous I rekon.

I recently changed out my stock hoses for Hel lines, I ran two lines one for each caliper. Mainly because I raised the bars. I was very happy to get rid of the tee piece under the lower triple tree. Pretty sure that's why I always had trouble bleeding it. No issues now.

I took measurements before going and having them made but ballsed it up and had to get one shortened, was that **** faulty tape measure again.

The ABS models are different though.
