so...got Roadster 2018 ready to pick up. Asked dealer to supply with the oem TORS. Just got phone call saying ‘no longer available ‘
Is this right you Guys?
So strange, this is the 3rd or 4th time I've heard of a set of TORS with a minor imperfection. When I got mine, new in the box one pipe had some rash on the end. Wonder what gives?
Crappy packing by Triumph and very light carton cardboard contribute heaps. If they are shipped alone in a carton you are virtually guaranteed they will be damaged by other freight and/or penetrated by other freight items. I have sold 6 sets and received one damaged with obvious damage to carton. Others have been sold on with no apparent damage to OEM carton and then being double skinned by me with heavy cardboard but because of flimsy carton strength they have received dents from other objects thrown on top and deflecting the carton despite no penetration.
I have stopped selling for that exact reason. If bought in 2's or 3 's and bound together they are less likely to get damaged at all.
I repacked / recovered 5 sets after seeing how they arrived with HEAPs of extra reinforcing with double skinned cartons and extra reinforcing of the foam cups that surround each end. Some still got dented in transit possibly before repack. I did inspect the ones I repacked but it is easy to miss a tiny flaw when you are repacking and handling which literally takes hours per pair. The Touring with a deeper slash cut end are worst for destroying the foam cups which disintegrate during transit and poke through the carton getting damaged.
I added extra bubble wrap and filled in the gaps after adding extra foam to the cups and taping. It was an absolute PITA but neccessary for clients to have a chance of getting them undamaged.
I imagine only dealers getting container loads received their shipments undamaged.
