I am trying to find where to wire in a GPS power cable. I thought I could wire it into the fog light switch but only the hot wire runs through the switch. I lifted the tank and found 3 connectors. One is white with a black housing, there are two black ones one with four wires and the other one with 3 wires. I found that the one with 3 wires goes hot with the key, which is what I want. I don't know whether to try to splice into the wires (which I am not really good at) or cut them from the connector and attach to them. I believe this would be the easiest to do, but I would ruin the connector and I really don't know what it is for.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've taken power for both my Zumo GPS & Sirius Satilite and cruise control off the power wire which goes to the horn.

Don't waste your time with connectors, trim the casing around the wire and wrap bare wire to bare wire. Soulder it. Tape and/or shrink sleeve if you've cut the wire.

I try and not cut wires were possible. Just bare a short portion (1/4") and (sort of tee) the new wire into it. You can lay the wire next to one another so that it's not exactly a tee.

Avoid those useless quick connectors.

Happy riding.... when ever that will be.

thats what I did with out thinking about it just strait to the battery. It will not be a big drain so there is nothing to worry about

I ran my wires right to the battery. No drain unless the gps unit is in the mount.

Although I will say, having more than one or two things directly on the battery makes securing the battery posts a bit of a pain.

Time to make up an accessory block.
