Winter is coming

It's mainly for my small carbureted engines. The small amount of fuel sitting in the bowl evaporates and turns to varnish easily. This plugs up the jets and orifices, and since I'm a generally lazy individual ... a little Stabil is easier than a carb kit.
Larger volumes of fuel take longer to break down, and injected engines don't have the fuel exposed to the air (other than the tank). So I usually only add it to the bike if I know it's going to sit with the same fuel in it for along time (worst part of the winter).

Not sure about this claim against Stabil, I've used it for the last 8 years or so and have never had any flakes, have never replaced a fuel filter and what counts for me is when I start it...does it keep running....smoothly, and the answer has been YES. I'm sure that Seafoam is a fine product in itself but to each their own.

Hey guys this is my first winter with the Rocket and the first with a fuel injected bike here in Kentucky,my question is do I need to put stabil through the fuel system like Ive always done before with my carburetor bikes???

I don't worry about the fuel as much as a trickle charging battery tender being connected. You know there are days that you can ride in them thar hills with leather on.

That's funny, the flake fairy hasn't visited my stabil house. Whats different?
You sure the colorant in the product didn't just turn what was already there red?
It would be pretty difficult to market a product that's designed to protect fuel from destabilizing into lower elements if it did just that.

This is not a "fairy tale"...... This is actual and I'm relaying my experience for the benefit of others.

I certainly don't have an axe to grind against Stabil. However, I have used the product for years, and stopped using it after I made some recent observations (last year).

I switch my fuels out every six months for my generator and fuel jugs.

My 5kw generator's carb fuel bowl would not drain. I took it off and discovered hard, red flakes in the bottom of it.

I also discovered red flakes in the bottom of my 5 gallon plastic fuel jugs (I have three of them) and have been using Stabil for a few years.

I am very careful with the care of my fuels, and was very surprised to see this foreign matter as residue in my generator and fuel jugs. It was not dirt.

I have since switched to SeaFoam for fuel stabilization. SeaFoam does more for you anyway, besides stabilizing fuel. It's a better fuel treatment.

If there isn't any ice or snow on the roads I try to ride all winter. At least once a month. it drives me crazy to see it parked all winter. Just have to add yet another layer of vigilance and 2 layers of clothing. Last stop is the gas station to top off the tank to keep the moisture out.

I try to ride all winter also, I've even started out in 17 degree weather before. Last winter was another story, we got 265 inches of snow, not much riding then.
