They say you learn something everyday..i was watching a Rocket Touring video
on You Tube..the guy removed the windscreen to clean it..i had no idea how easy
it is to remove the screen. I thought it was a clever piece of design

Yeah as soon as I got mine I went to the dealer and ordered the optional lock. Which should have been stock, not optional... but it's nice to be able to remove it, and the fastenings are all solid metal so when it's on there it doesn't rattle at all, so Triumph cheaped out on the less important things at least.

The finance guy at the dealer I purchased the bike from knew more about it than the sales guys. He showed me about the quick release for the screen which was awesome as I removed it as soon as I got home. Too **** tall. Gonna order a shorter piece of plexi as soon as I have some funds available...

Yours either came with the optional Roadster screen or you're a seriously short dude. The stock screen is very short.

5'8". The screen reaches to the top of my helmet. I think the dealer acquired the "freebies" that Triumph seems to do every year and one of them was a "premium" package with the taller windshield, touring seat (dual backrests), luggage trim etc. Of course my sales guy knows very little so he thinks the bike came like that (I was hoping that they had the original seat and windshield somewhere...).

Such is life...

Mine came just like yours. I'm 5'9" and the tall windshield got on my nerves on my trip across west Texas in 100 degrees. I chopped 3" off of it when I got home and now it's perfect (I can get some air) and it even looks better.

I did the same with the taller screen. The stock one was much too short (I'm 6'2") but the taller one was a bit too tall. I don't like to look through the windscreen. Some masking tape and a Dremel made it just right.

From what I understand, the 2012 Touring comes with a very high screen. For 2103 they're going back to a shorter screen. I know because I am picking my 2012 up tomorrow and I told the dealer to take the tall one off and give me the 2013 screen. I hate looking through plexiglass.

I have attempted to make a good looking fairing , initial attempt was not too spectacular but I learned a few things and since I do not like the batwing fairing and no one else is selling a decent modern looking fairing this winter i will start the real thing it is for the roadster initially .
lonzol had a fabulous idea when he modified the H-D fxr touring fairing however I cannot find one anywhere so a new modern looking fairing in the making this winter my two bits

Windshield Woes

I started out with the stock Windshield On My New 2012 Rocket 3 Touring. I rode it for about a month and could not stand it anymore. It was too short. The height of the windshield directed bugs and small debris right into my face. I wear an open helmet so the debris and bugs got caught in my helmet and ear covers (Nice touch to get mad bees in your helmet) I finally bit the bullet and bought the larger touring blade. After installing it I now have to look through the blade since it is too tall. I am normal height at around 5' 9" so These guys at Triumph could not have possibly tested this accessory on normal human bikers, they are just stupid about accessories. I will follow others lead and trim this new $225 windshield blade down about 3". Then I can ride safely, without looking through lexan and without directing bees in my helmet.
