I tried Amsoil but was not too happy. Lots of engine noise. Went back to Mobil1. Find it at Autozone. Also, I use a Mobil1 108 oil filter. perfect fit.

I used the Valvoline 10-40 for my last two oil changes but will also be going back to Mobile 1. That's an interesting observation about the Amsoil. I tried it in my Harley Evo many years ago and the valve train noise became very pronounced. I dumped it after about 500 miles and went back to regular oil. I put Valvoline 20-50 synthetic in the old Harley a few months ago and didn't have that same engine noise issue.
I used Mobile 15w50 4rt for the longest time and never had a problem with it. Triumph has switch to castrol I think. I also use moble turbo diesel oil as it does not have friction modifiers in it and is heavier in wear inhibitors.
Now I use Joe Gibbs racing oil in my bikes. Synthetic 15w50 hot rod oil with extra wear inhibitors.
Most people do not realize how low the oil pressure is at 800 rpms or lower. Gracie has a gauge on her that clued me in.
Thanks again GMan
I was not aware that mobil 1 tdt oil would work as a replacement for motorcycle oil. that's the stuff I use in my jetta and if I can stock up on 1 oil just with a few filters and washers then thats probably the way i'll go.
Filter wise I use the Purolator Synthetic # PSL14610 its a longer filter but the same OD as the OEM so the chrome cover goes on. It just leaves about 3/4" of a Blue stripe between the motor and the chrome cover.
You can use what you want as long as its JASO-MA rated. That means its wet clutch compatable. I prefer Rotella 15X40 and Mobil 1. I used both in all my Harleys without any issues. Someone here said Triumph went to Castrol and they are right. I had Castrol stickers all over my Touring when I bought it. For this bike (touring) I think I will use Mobil 1.
My motor with the Castrol is quiet and hope the Mobil will be too. The Rotella never made any noise either. Good stuff and I run it in all my fire trucks. IF it can take that hammering it has to be good.
