I installed (2) 5-3/4" DayMaker headlights on my 07 Classic with Eastern Beaver kit and think they were the best mod that I've done to this bike. I have just purchased a nice 2001 T-Bird 900 to my stable and want to swap the stock headlight for a 7" DayMaker (chrome)or equivalent to increase lighting since half of my work commute is in the dark (pun). Anyone know which model number I need to fit the 'Bird? Would it be the same as the R3 Touring? Did these bikes have the same problem with the ignition switch as the Rocket which required the EB kit? I also want to an on-off switch for the light as I did with the Rocket.

You can save a lot of money without compromising performance - rather the opposite - in the 7-inch segment by going with a Truck-lite Phase 7. You can pick one up for a few hundred bucks on eBay. In the comparisons I've seen the Truck-lite appears to have a better pattern, and I think it looks vastly better at rest (looking at the headlight itself). The Daymakers may be effective but I can't get used to the look.

Also, the JW Speaker/Daymaker tend to shoot a lot of the light into the ground in turns, from what I gather.

That said, the form factor is standard, I think. The only possible gotcha I can see with getting a 7-inch is (potentially) depth if they have a massive heat sink or something.

You probably want the 8700 Evolution.

It's almost four times the cost of the Truck-lite, though, I believe.

Or maybe these... if you're man enough. ;-D http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/headlights/#product500443-details=&product=500443

I fitted the 7" trucklite to my Bonnie, fitted straight in & is bl**dy good

I have not found any that would fit my Rocket as I have twin v-rod H/lights on it.

GOOD CHOICE on the Daymakers - I love mine!
The 7" are part #67700241 (chrome) and 67700242 (black)
I got mine at Kutter HD - best price.
They have the 7" for $435.00

7"? - TRUCK-LITE - Absolutely NO contest. I have one in my Guzzi. You could also investigate the Rivera Primo Phase2 - in the Trucklite price range. Uses Cree XM-L leds.

What about the Primo Rivera HEDLED (CLICK) glass sealed beam in both 5 3/4 and 7 inch sizes. Pretty good reviews and only $212 US bucks!!!!

Apparently they fit in our sealed beam housings.

You can get a Truck-lite Phase 7 for under $170 on eBay and those are known good. For R3 Tourings there are also kits that have that and two 4.5 inch fog lights for well under $400. I'd like to know more about the lumen output of each, though.
