When you did the EB kit did you check the Ign switch and the wiring back along the loom to the connectors for signs of overheating? If the EB significantly improved your lights it indicates that the switch had got quite bad and likely overheated, that heat can radiate back along the line. If the wiring and/or connectors have been effected it gives the same symptoms.

I fitted a bypass relay (not EB) to a friends Rocket because he had all the symptoms of a bad switch but it wasn't the switch, it was the fist connector along from the switch. It was so bad it had to be replaced with individual inline splices.

When you do the EB conversion - make sure the wires that lead to the plug INSIDE THE HEADLAMP SHELL are not touching.

The Plastic light reflectors get VERY VERY hot and so does the airspace inside the shell. Enough to make the wire insulation soft and sticky. If they're touching eventually they will stick together and can even short. Also this heat increases wire resistance - this makes the wires get hotter - etc etc. I have the T-Shirt.

Mine are now fibreglass tube insulated.

Mine has the ignition switch relocated to the left side below the seat. The wiring looks to be fine. I've never had an ignition switch related problem, only a starter solenoid problem.I did not want to have one either, so i did the EB. I did order the Toyota starter, and should have it by Friday. My starter is shot. Sounds like it is full of gravel, draws current like mad, and occasionally smells like the windings are burning off their insul. It did this slowly, as if there was a bad spot, sometimes it would whip the motor over, and other times really labor to crank.
Now, it labors all the time. I have parked it. At least I have other bikes to ride. I would go nuts without a bike this time of year.
