They do look similar, has to be said--- I do think Triumph should maintain their own identity tho'.
There's enough Jap' H.D. look alikes to be had already.( and may well be more reliable and cheaper?)
But-- Copies & clones do not impress .

"SORRY" This started out as a quote, and became a "BASH" Ha! must have forgot my Prozac this morning!

I agree 100%, and I still can't understand people wanting to buy a new Road King, Rode Glide, Sofa Glide, whatever. Same old 2 cylinder, thumpin, and more recently with EPA lean crap, "overheating" under powered Cadillac, with only 2 wheels, and no AC. The one's with the "captains" chair mounted on the back, arm rests and all, along with a couple of huge over sized fiberglass saddle bags, enough lights to look like a Christmas tree ??? I just dunno. And think about the price? And how much they, like any new vehicle, depreciate, after signing the papers, and driving around the block! I have a 2006 Harley Sportster 883C in my barn right now. Got suckered into a no down payment deal back then, and 12.5% interest. Had over $15,000 in it, after payments, and probably dropped another 2 or 3 K on 1200cc kit, carb, ignition module, pipes, on and on. Be lucky to get $4000 for it now. Paid $16,000 CASH for my 2013 Rocket, and only thing I've had to buy since was 2 tires, and a battery. And I guarantee you I bust 100mph at least at some point, on every ride I take. Had the Hardley topped out at close to 120mph, and that was all she had, and with me laying down on the tank!

I like some things about HD and I don't like some things about HD. I feel that way about a lot of things in life.

I don't understand the people who have orange and black bar and shields on everything they own any more than the "metric" riders who try to disrespect everything HD does.

I do understand the @sshat bike snobs that look down and insult people who ride brands other than their favorite.
They're douche cannons and can't help themselves.

As far as bikes being clones of HD; mfgs are going to make bikes that consumers want.
We can hope for some innovation like the R3, the Vision, the Zero or Hondas DTC transmission. But we'll always be able to buy bikes similar to what the masses spend their money on.

I think the Thunderbird is a fine looking bike with enough classic Triumph in it to avoid the label "clone".

Just curious though.
Does everyone like classic American cars from the 60s and are these "clones" too?

Was surfing the web this morning and came across this interesting design from Triumph. At first glace i was sure it was a Harley Roadking... If you ask me Harley has a nice little case of design infrigment or what ever the legal term is for copying another manufactures design.. He that follows the crowd will never lead one... This should silence those antagonist....

Triumph failed to add a rotating counter weight to get the filters, bags and handle bars to duplicate the Harley "shakes".

The pics look like one Caddy, and a bunch of Mopars (Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth) to me, late '50's (some early '60's) when "Batmobile" tail fins were "in."

I didn't like the look then, and I don't now.

As far as Hardleys; my son has one, and he loves it. As far as I'm concerned; it's a POS. Anything that shakes parts off of itself just getting about (and idling) is something I can live without.

I prefer quality and performance over advertising BS, hype, and "whatever."

The blue ones a Lincoln but you picked em well.

My point still stands. MFGs are gonna make what the masses are lining up to buy.
Whether its taillight fins, stepside pickup beds, SUVs, little square/cube cars or over & under fog light/blinkers on cruisers.

The Victory Vision is VERY fun bike to ride and has a lot of "out of the box" design features. It also doesn't sell very well.

I guess I'm just happy to have competition in the market.
