Hey all. With spring coming (thinking positive) I'm looking forward to doing its 2nd oil change.
I've been using Redline 10w40 bike oil but found after about 6000km on the oil, it's a bit tricky to get into neutral and the shifts are not quite as smooth as when the oil was fresh. This i find after the oil gets to operating temp. On a few prior bikes I took it as time for an oil change.
So I'm not really looking to start another oil thread here, but what kind of oil do you prefer for a happier shift? Any new experiences between brands? Or is it quite normal for these bikes?
Thanks all.

While my extended warranty is in effect and paying for routine service, I will get Castrol as the dealer uses that. When I start paying for my own, I will try Mobil 1 4T Racing at least once to see if the transmission likes that better. I would reckon any reasonable motorcycle oil would make the engine happy, but motorcycle transmissions can be picky!

I have a friend who is head tech at my local Triumph dealership , he says that although Triumph recommend the Castrol 4T , they are in fact now using silkolene 4T due to good feedback from long term customers .
Haven't tried it myself yet but I do trust my friends advice !

On one of my Rockets my 2005 with 70000miles on it I was nothing but an oil whore, I have used amsol, mobil, suzuki oil and even walmart brand mc oil and honestly could not tell a difference between any of them.
On my 2011 carp Roadster I use Mobil1 4t racing oil main reason being the auto zone close to my house always sells it.

WELL the gear box is one way of getting feedback when trying different engine oils the best oils seem to smooth out the gearbox operation with slicker shifting and as the oil ages youll notice the gearbox becoming harder to shift and its a good time to change the oil and then it will then shift smooth again .

Regarding oil, I agree with the Skirt-boy here.
Mobile 1 Racing 4T full syn is good stuff and readily available when on trips!
