What happens when you over tighten the oil drain plugs?

Same here, ten oil changes on my 05. No torque, same gaskets, no leaks. Park bike in my basement for the winter, I have wall to wall carpet, clean and dry.
 
The bolts will work better with a torx bit rather than an allen key. Screw them in till they start tightening, then snug them down a bit. You don't need to twist the heck out of them.
 
take the size of allen tool that you need cut one inch off of it, insert that piece into a 1/4 inch (for example 8mm) socket. now you have a tool for torque wrench. or your not likely to strip with the 1/4 ratchet.

do not forget to get your torque wrench re calibrated once in a while if tightening is of utmost importance
 
Turns out the threads in the pan were fine. I bought four, (yes four) new drain plugs and installed them fine. No leaks and now I have 2 backups. After I did this I read about all the possible issues I could have caused by over tightening these, so I think I got off lucky.

I only replaced the two that I cracked but after reading how nobody stocks these bolts, I thought I would buy four and have a couple extra. The main plug with the o-ring was fine... it must be a tougher bolt. All three of them use crush washers but only the main plug uses an o ring.
 
Well by the look of those pic you crushed the **** outta those washers....................
