Looks like this thread is about dead but for what it's worth:  I've been a chaps guy but this yr I decided to give some Joe Rocket riding pants a try.  I like them alot better.  These have zippers from the ankle to the pockets on the outside of the legs.  This allows fitting over ANY boot.   It has a velcro flap over the zippers, zip up thigh pockets, back zipper for jacket attachment, warm because of no front and back openings and of course wather "resistant / proof".  Face it, the warmest clothing will "never" be leather.  It's just like your skin, it eventually turns the same temperature as the air hitting it.   My warmest jacket is a light weight Frank Thomas jacket.  I'll wear my leather for looks but when it comes to cold weather riding, I put on the textile clothes.
Oh...I forgot, the Gerbings don't hurt either! hehe
