Bruce I'd be taking that muffler back to the ceramic coaters and get them to re-coat it. Coating should not discolour like that I'm pretty sure .. supposed to be good for 200+degrees or some such thing. Even at dyno temperatures it shouldn't dis-colour.

You will find that SS will straw up after any long runs so get used to cleaning then

It's ceramic coated .. not stainless steel finish .. as far as I know anyway.

Sorry I was under impression that it was uncoated Stainless Steel, Ceramic coating will Dull if it gets excessively hot for a period thou

Headers are ceramic coated muffler is polished stainless. The first bend on Les's headers went a bit dull, lost there shine after being on the dyno. Mentioned this to Fred before he dyno'd mine, he set up a fan on them and there was no problem. Just something to remember for anyone with polished ceramic on a dyno.

My headers dulled before I fitted the PCV + AT cos the caned tune I was running was a tad lean and Stain Tune mufflers always straw up a bit after a long run also the front of the mufflers blue up a little. "AutoGlym" make good product that is designed for deoxidising paint work but is a excellent SS polish it is call "Auto Glym Paint Renovator" and I came across it by accident and have since learnt that my local SS shop uses it also to clean up after fabrication of items
