Does anybody have a good silver water pump they would consider selling ? Mine is dripping. It appears to be coming from the weep hole. I just wiped it off good to see for sure. With my luck it won't be just the cover o-ring. It had the blue Triumph coolant in it when I got it. I changed it this spring and used the Honda zero silicate stuff. This bike is starting to give me a rash.

Mine has a very slow leak that appeared a couple of months ago. Dealer wanted $280 for a new water pump plus a couple of hours labour if they were to install it.

I just keep an eye on the coolant levels at the moment. It's not big enough to fork out some emergency ca$h.

Undo the bolt where it is leaking, put some gasket goo (or similar) around the threads near the head of the bolt, tighten it back up, wipe the excess goo away. Problem solved.

Hello Ian ! It appears to be coming from the "weep hole" which is between the water seal and the oil seal. I'll get a better look at it tomorrow. When I had the engine apart I replaced one of the hoses on the pump and it leaked a little until I tightened it some more. I'll check tomorrow to see if maybe the hose is leaking down the back side and running down where the weep hole is. I rarely get that lucky :(

Does anyone know the part number for a silver water pump ?
I would contact Andy at NCY with your vin number he will be able to chase down whether you can get a silver pump or not. I wonder if you could pull th eshaft and get the seal and bearing numbers and rebuild it yourself?
Let me look around I believe I might have a used silver unit.

My friend Scott (aka warp 9.9) came through again with a silver water pump. Thanks again Scott ! Here are some pics of the old one dismantled;

The problem with this one was right here;

These parts fit together like this;

They are sealed together with some sort of hard shellack type substance which had let go. Another thing I found disturbing was all the metal in my coolant. It's aluminum;

I filtered it back into the bike through coffee filters;

The only moving part in the cooling system is the pump. It didn't show any signs of wear. It's bearings are still like new. Just crap that didn't get cleaned out when they machined the engine ?

makes you wonder about the production line checks for unworthy parts and defects

That has to be one of those "designed to fail" parts.

You know so the Triumph dealers can bilk you for service.
