Living Legend
I have been having an issue with second gear "slipping." For a while I thought it was the clutch (I am at 150+hp). So I put in a Barnett clutch and springs. It didn't help. The best way to describe it is it feels almost like a brief wheel hop or spin when under heavy load but I know I am not losing traction. It got to where I can do it pretty much do it at will.
After Flip's experience at Baxter Cycles I gave them a call. They contacted Triumph and they said as long as the mechanic can duplicate the problem, it's covered for the upgrade kit. I am over a year out of warranty. This weekend Toystoretom, my dad and I made the 200 mile trip to Baxter's. Gus the mechanic, rode it and was able to reproduce it. He said it felt different than some of the other 2nd gear issues, but believes it is the gear dogs disengaging and reengaging. While it was parked in the sun, Tom noticed some oil on the rear of the engine. Turns out I also have a head gasket leak. The mechanic said that should be covered also - he has seen the same thing on a few others. He is at Triumph in Atlanta this week for training so he was going to talk to them in person about it. I should have an answer later this week.
