Update on tire wear on the 2020 Rocket

Got my new GT on the 1st march and I've only done 900 miles,i thought I'd just check the rear for wear and was more than a bit surprised to see there was only 1.5mm left before it hits the wear bar, How many miles do you reckon before it gets down to the wear bar? i was hoping i would get at least 4000 miles out of the rear but that is looking very unlikely. looking at what you guys are getting out of the rear I'm thinking my tyre must have been replaced with a part worn tyre when i bought it! i didn't pay much attention to it when i collected it as it was a brand new bike.

Nope that part of tread pattern. Look for the one with TWI written on it

That's a relief! I've never seen that kind of tread pattern before, i had to put my specs on to see the bit with TWI written on it i have 4.5mm left, does anyone know how many mm it would have had when new?

not easy to measure this exactly, I would estimate 6mm.

That's good, i should manage to get 4k out of it then which is what i was originally expecting..i knew something wasn't right!

6mm when new and the replacement has 7.5mm!!!

This refers to the difference between OEM (Triumph) cobra chrome when new and an aftermarket cobra chrome tyre over the counter. You never get as much depth when on the tyres when the bike is new, i guess manufacturers save on less rubber.
