I work about 80 miles from home and the morning temps are still near freezing, too cold for me. I keep watching the weather forecast looking for a good day to ride to work!
I thought about it, and then I realized it would take some preparation and I wouldn't be able to just stumble out the door with a cup of coffee in my hand and my shoes on the wrong feet like usual.............
I've got a commute of 60 miles each way. Made a deal with a co-worker we would both ride to work and then to a concert that night together - regardless of the weather... It was 24F when I left that morning... YES - it was COLD - ALL interstate!
I had took 1/2 day yesterday for a dentist appointment so after I left the dentist I took the bike out. It was around 45f and overcast so not too bad but still cold on the blue jeans.
With the proper gear - I don't think I would have a problem commuting every day but I would for sure need a windshield and heated gloves / grips.
I commuted most every day until this Winter. This year, I decided if it was below 40, I will drive my old '94 Chyrsler Concorde with 198,000 miles on it.. lol Also.. if it's foggy when I'm heading to work, I won't ride. Fog is probably the main weather I will not ride in. If I can't see, I know they can't see me.. and I don't like arriving at work wet either.. lol I will ride in any kind of weather/temp if I have plans to be at a rally or if I already have plans to go on a trip. But normal commuting, I'll make exceptions..
I did want to ride to work this morning.. but I bring my van on Wednesdays to haul everyone from work to lunch at random places..
****. I've got to finish up my winter maintenance.
It happens every year. I wait for it to get really cold to start the teardown. Then once it's in pieces, I let it sit on the lift because it's too **** cold in the garage to go out and work on it.
