Tuneecu Problem ..what happened?

When I know what I'm doing it should make a difference...l say should!..in the meantime ... has anybody made a thread for using tuneecu?..I mean step by step from the time you open the laptop till you close it again?..l can't unzip files either...duh!

Try a search on YouTube. There are several videos on there. I watched them many times to understand what was going on. Next I practised reading the map in the bike, making a small change, reloading. then putting the original back etc. umtil I felt comfortable doing so. Also learnt to balance the throttles and ISCV reset etc.

Finally I got to grips with the graphs and tables, again understanding them, making changes and trying them out. Over a period of 3 months I developed a map for my Roadster that was what I wanted and am very happy with it.

There's nothing temperamental about the R3 and TuneECU starting or not. Load, key off, key on, start, works every time if you used the right base tune. I've done it probably about 500 times now between my two Triumphs.

I'd suggest verify that you used the right base tune! Sounds like you loaded a pre-2014.5 tune into a post-2014.5 bike or vice versa.

You can't mix old to new or new to old, and just because it says "Roadster" tune, doesn't mean it will work in all roadsters. It's stupid, it's frustrating, but its not terrible once you get it sorted out.

Thanx guys...I'm taking it on board. We also thought we used an early...2014..tune and the bike rejected it. At the time we went sure. The last time we did this was on my 2014 roadster and I think we used the same tune this time.

The tell tale sign of the wrong base tune, your Engine light will blink on the gauges after you turn the key back to the on position.

2016 bikes seem to have a different reaction to the 2014. In addition there are some later models where the ECU is "locked" I believe.
