i have it on order, should be here in a day or 2. what are the basic things to know or do before loading a tune. i know there are certain setting to check on the computer to make it work that are not in the initial setup. i am a little intimidated by it so any info to make it go smooth will be much appreciated. thanks

If it doesn't seem to connect or fails part way through a download - don't panic. Read the manual again from start to finish. It's all there. You may need to uncheck the Precision Timer and adjust the wait time in Options - Properties to get it to work. It sounds daunting but it really isn't.
