Ok, guys. Wanting to start some performance enhancement on my 06 Rocket. I am a couple hours from a Triumph dealer, and do my own maint. but not a major mechanic. I have been looking at Power Comanders, and since joining, and reading alot of forums on here, am getting excited about TuneBoys as well. But where do you start? Would love to have some ideas of where you may have started and the results you have had. Thanks in advance. REV

I have a o6 Classic that I purchased used. It already had Jardine exhaust on it. IMO, with stock header, Purchase a set of Tors mufflers, triple K&N's, remove the throttle butterflies. Purchase a PCIII and TAKE IT TO A DYNO, Let me say take again, TAKE IT TO A DYNO and have it dialed in on a dyno. Most guys purchase a PCIII and snap it in, install the canned program from the factory and take off. They are only doing HALF of it. If you do not have it dialed in on a dyno you are not getting the full benefit of the PCIII. When I had mine dyno'd I only picked up 2 horses but the throttle response was so much crisper. I can snap the throttle and there is no booge or stumble. Its the type of throttle response that allows me to snap the front end up in the air with nothing more than a snap of the throttle. No clutch needed for that wheelie.
I have both, Tuneboy and PCIII. The only reason I went with a TB was because I could correct the Speedo and remove the top end speed limiter. You can not do this with a PCIII.
Or if you want to start small, Go to Ebay and purchase a GIPRO and remove the secondary butter flies. You will notice a big difference in throttle response and you get a great gear indicator to boot.
Good luck with your improvements.

T is absolutely right, the PCIII canned tune is useful only to get you to the dyno if you do the rest of the work yourself. This is why I don't like the idea of Tuneboy or TuneECU unless you have a dyno all to yourself and know what you are doing. Stuffing someone else's tune in the ECM is not living up to your full potential ... each bike is different. Few shops will dyno tune Tuneboy or TuneECM ... they mostly deal with Power Commander.

Guys will tell you that you don't need a GiPro if you use Tuneboy, "you can edit the timing and open the secondaries". Well you can ... but you have to dyno tune the bike too. And will the shop you use do it? If they will, or you can yourself ... Great! If not, well then I suggest you go mainstream and go with what everyone tunes with.

Installing a GiPro and removing the secondaries will give you a thrill you won't believe for under $200 and you don't need to alter the fuel trim (buy a PCIII yet). Later on when that high wears off, you can save your pennies for exhaust, filters and the PCIII. One afternoon you install all three and then take it to the tuner and get a customized dyno-tune ..... YOU'RE DONE!
That set-up will net you close to 150 horse power and torque numbers. That should make anyone happy. :)

Oh yeah, we don't know why T's GiPro did not eliminate the speed limiter ... it did on mine. It's been over 150 with an oversize windscreen

Hey T, I live in southeast Kansas. Just north of Tulsa a couple hours. Who can I take my Triumph to, to assist me with some of this work, or a dino?

You're right about most tuners using dynojet setups and are trained with the PC system (A/F). You can get better results and finer tunes with the TB set up if you know how to use it or have a friend who does. All the dyno is doing is checking your WOT and reading your A/F ratio. Unless they have an eddy current dyno(One with electronic brakes) your only looking at WOT. But that is a great start to a great tune.
Just so much more you can do with the Tuneboy using tunedit.
I hate to see people shy away from a great system and go with the limited capabilities of the PC3 or 5. However, if you are doing mods which will help your bike breathe better (exhaust or intake) anything is better than nothing to keep that dangerous lean condition away.
Fun looking for that power with either system. Good luck.

Hey Rev, Give me a call and I will be glad to help you all I can. The guy that I used to dyno my bike was at Bike-lahoma last yr but he is out of Miami, OK. I'll pm you my cell number.
Just found the web site [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-Serif]Rolling Thunder Dyno Online. This guy like most does mostly hardleys but done a good job on my Rocket and I supplied my own PCII.

Has anyone got a PC3 on a 09 rocket
i ordered the pc 5 but its not available yet so im thinking of just getting them to send the pc3 instead is it still compatable with my machine?
really wanna put my K&NS in and get the dyno done

PC3 and O2 sensor eliminator

also when ever i look through catalogues online they always list the pcIII and o2 eliminator for 04-08 rockets im assuming they havent updated the list yet becoase y would it be compatable with 08 and not 09 its the same engine ?

I sure don't see why it wouldn't work ... the canned tunes may not be compatible since they are just additions to the existing one in the bike's ECM. A dyno tune would be a must, and since it is ... you may just want to find a tuner that will do it all. Sell you the box, plug it in and run it right up onto the dyno. Make your modifications like the filters and exhaust ... then run it down to the shop for the PCIII and tune.

The PCIII simply tweeks the numbers that are already there stored in the ECM, and as long as the plugs are the same ...

Wait a bit, I'm sure someone has done it ... they'll come along eventually.
