Trunk

I installed a Givi V46 on my 09 Touring using a second quick release bracket that I modified to fit the box.

Macrider, if you do get a Harley lookalike from someone like Scootworks, and are looking to mount it on your quick release sissybar rack, just bear in mind that it will need to be lifted a minimum of 1" to allow the hardbags to fully open. The Givi, Mutazu etc are not as wide, which is why the bags open fully.

Thanks Peteoz
Thats good to know,
If I do decide to go with the Scootworks trunk then I guess I can make a plywood base painted black to shim the trunk up.
That would work to raise it up about 1 1/4".
I like the look and size of the Scootworks Supertrunk and its already gloss black so no need to send it out for painting.

Shipped in gelcoat finish, ready for sanding and paint in your color. NOTE- Now shipped in GLOSS BLACK gel coat

Hey Manos, any chance of a 'how to'? I have the same box that was on my ZZR11 and would love to use it occasionaly on my Touring

Hi Macrider,
When I spoke to Scootworks, they said that it was a good move to have to trunk painted anyway, as the gelcoat would gradually deteriorate. So that's one added cost. There's another cost..... the felt lining (it's not drop in like the Harley and requires cutting and fixing). I also bought the backrest, which you aren't doing, and I'm not sure how that fitting will work as I haven't seen it done with the Scootworks......Just a little more food for thought....

There's a couple of pics here -http://www.r3owners.net/rocket-iii-touring-forum/8407-topbox-trunk.html

Hey

I bought a second quick release back rest and then I cut off the back rest just above the weld where it attaches to the luggage rack. Next I ground down the burrs and wrapped the cut in silicone tape. It was a pricey method, but simple to modify.

Thanks for that, too rich for me so will have to look at another way of doing it!

Scootworks Supertrunk on a Wompus Rack

I already have the Wompus Rack installed and just got the trunk back from the painter today. I spent much of the afternoon reattaching latches & hinges, then installing a Mustang passenger backrest with armrests to the front of the lid. I finished by installing a Kuryakin chrome luggage rack on the top of the lid. I'll check my saddlebag lid clearance when I intall the trunk to the Wompus Rack. Everything including the rack comes from Scootworks. The Wompus is a heavy guage black powder coated steel luggage rack, more than strong enough for a fully loaded Supertrunk with a fully loaded rack on top of it. The only thing is that you must manaully align the trunk and drill the mounting holes in both it and the Wompus Rack to bolt the trunk to the rack.

Don't the r3t panniers open away from the bike? Are you thinking it'll hit the underside of the trunk?
