yeah so in prep for the carpenter kit i went ahead and bought the triumph cylinder liner puller tool ($165)

following on from bishops fork tool thread, if anyone needs to use it i can mail it, at the cost of postage to & fro.

or, if you want a local fabricators to make one up, the components are dimensioned in the pics

or you can just pay the $165 like a schmuck (me) for the triumph one

true but id need other stuff, i could be wrong but it looks like id prefer the liner method myself.

Thanks for the info and measurements. The tricky bit might be finding the right type of rubber to make the expander piece.....

Left my liners in for piston change, went in thru the bottom, no probs......

forgot to specify thread pitch, the 2 lads that screw into the head are M12 x 1.5mm, all the other threads are M12 x 1.75mm

Good information. I have pulled pistons both ways and prefer to leave the liners myself. You will see what I am talking about soon. Enjoy :)

If you need help you are a member of the Carpenter team now. If you can't get a hold of Art for some reason I can also help.

i appreciate the offer, i'm sure i'll be freaking out real paranoid next week when im doing the install :Tip-Hat:

i took the liners & pistons out my spare engine today, and put them back, as a practice run. it went exactly as i expected.

if you go in the other side, do you need to replace any more bearings or bolts, what with taking out crank etc?

No need to touch crank, remove sump, splash pan, and bearing ladder, then can reach con-rod bolts. Will need new rod bolts (stretchies, not re-usable), possibly sump gasket, and wouldn't do any harm to replace big-end slippers while you're there, with new ones the same size/colour. Oh, and a ring compressor, since you'll be dropping the pistons into the TOP of the sleeves....

Don't forget the ice-cream container to hold all the left-over bits that you miss...................
