Triumph Accesories Mufflers on R3T

I got them odered when my dealer had a 20% off sale so I saved about $100 USD. I promptly installed them myself and fired the Rocket up to hear them. Nice and deep tone to them but not too loud. On March first the weather permitted me to test ride with the new mufflers in place and once again I liked the overall sound. The dealer's parts desk person told me I should bring the bike back to get it remapped. I don't know what a dealer charges for this service or what I can expect in terms of performance or other changes this makes. I see a lot of you go the dyno route with Power Commanders or Tune Boys, so what would I be paying for and getting should I go that route instead?? I'm not really interested in drag-racing or showing-off so a modest increase would suit me just fine.

You have to do a lot of reading......on this Forum.
Your Bike needs another map for the ECU.
If you have a look at the TuneECU Thread you can do it yourself.
You only need to order a cable to get the ECU of the Bike attached to a laptop on which you have to install the TubeECu software.
If you can understand a little German: here you go: Mit Windows und TuneECU arbeiten. Einfach erklrt durch die Schrauberseite it is from our german Rocketeers site Hardy.

If you have a clever dealer he should do the remap fot you without any costs.
You also bought the Exhaust in his shop so there he also made some profit.

Dealer did mine when I got it and just did the old 11 minute tune and it worked fine. I haven't done one in a while but i believe you start the bike with no throttle and let it sit an idle until the fan comes on. At that time start the 11 minute clock. Once the time is up the tune is done. I think that is it. Look around in the tune forum and make sure I got this right.
 
I would think that since the dealer installed the exhaust for you he would have loaded the applicable tune...I would definitely ask him...maybe he already did (and didn't tell the parts person)...you never know.

My Dealer

My dealer said he could install 3 different tunes, low, medium and high performance. I, at first, said go all the way with it. He suggested the low first and then he would charge 1/2hr labor for each after. I pick the bike up in 25 days. I to am installing the Triumph Off Road Silencers, because of the discount you get at purchase.
Has anyone heard of these 3 dealer installed tunes? This is a Triumph Dealer.
 
Although I have not recently checked out the latest Triumph tunes..., I am not aware that Triumph offers 3 levels of performance tunes for the R3T. Again, unless Triumph has done something recently, I would question the dealer on that. To my knowledge, there is only one Triumph tune for the Tors. As I understand it, that particular tune actually decreases performance a little bit by further closing the secondaries.

I am sure someone more up on the goiongs on at Triumph will chime in...
 
There are three tunes available from Triumph..the 106hp tune that is stock with the R3T..the 123-126 tune hp that is recommended from Triumph with the purchase of Tors..the 140hp tune that is standard with the Rocket..I may not be technically correct but that was the way it was explained to me and my dealer was willing to map whatever tune I wished when He installed my Tors.Honoring my fear factor,I choose the tune recommended by Triumph for my new exhaust.As stated earlier,the installation of the Gipro changed everything..including the elimination of my fear factor..just get out of my way!!!!!
 
The dealer installed TOR or aftermarket pipe tune closes the secondary throttle plates more to compensate for the lower restriction exhaust to richen the mixture. Since it does nothing more than further close and restrict the intake, the tune actually reduces overall power. If you have no other plans such as a PCV to richen the fuel mapping, you will need to take the hit and go ahead with the dealer tune so the bike does not run lean. Personally, I would go ahead and do something with the filters such as triples, remove the secondaries and install a PCV along with a GiPro. You might as well get all the power from the bike you can rather than just let the dealer choke it off more just so it sounds good.
But then again, you bought the Touring for comfort rather than power, so just doing the dealer download will keep from having to do anything else to the bike that you might not be prepared for or want. It all comes down to what you want it to do ....
