At least you've got a garage. I made a frame out of metal conduit and unistrut and threw a tarp over it all winter. I've got a workshop to do the engine work in but the bike is outside. Now it's spring and the weather is better, I've got the engine back in and nearly ready to take it for test ride.
Figured having gone to the trouble of swapping engines, i might as well post up a thread about it with a few pics,, someone might enjoy it :) The manual has a section on engine removal and replace, so no need for any additional guidelines, maybe just a few tips here & there.
I had a garage but know heat. So in the interest of saving money I brought the bike in the house so I didn't have to buy a heater for the garage
Thats what I told my wife!!!!
Yes it went over like a turd in the punchbowl

You leave the engine where it is and pull the rest of the bike off it. Easiest way is to lift from front and back because you will need to tilt the back up to lift it off. Reasonably easy job with one person if you set it up correctly.
btw, I assume you have the manual, but if not then download it from my signature link.
