Transmission problems ??

If you turn the 8 in 2008 sideways, you can see that the 2008 R3 is infinitely better.

Transmission

I complained about difficult shifting on my rocket 3 to my dealer, so they took it for a test ride. They said it was fine. The next week something in the transmission broke and left me stranded. It was under warranty, so they fixed it. I have a 2009 R3. I love it, but I don't like that transmission.

It gets better after 30k just keep the clutch cable adjustment at 3 to 5 mill at the clutch lever cable adjuster end.. its a big heavy clunky G Box to handle the torque output.

My 2004 gas 70K+ miles and counting. If anything, the transmission shifts smoother than ever. I think it really started to get broke in about the 45K mile mark.

There were some 2nd gear issues here and there and Triumph stepped up to the plate on some that were 3 or more years out of warranty, but the forums sometimes make problems sound like they occur much more often than they really do.

I wouldn't hesitate to jump on my '04 Rocket right now and ride to anywhere. The biggest problem I worry about is having a tire issue. Not every Mom&Pop store carries a 240/50 or 55-16 rear tire.. But I've never had that problem on a trip either..

2016 R3 and sounds like i have the same gearbox issues at 3000 miles, started at around 800 miles. Did the full synthetic oil change clunks in first gear. Noise and clunk in left foot peg all the time coming from transmission. Will be taking it in, hope Triump covers this. Just bought in January 2017 brand new.

If they don't, I'd ride it through the front window of corporate headquarters on fire.
