Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anybody has had a problem changing from 1st to 2nd and experience grinding the gears. It's OK if I am behaving myself and being gentle but as soon as I want to squirt it it, in most cases wont find second until embarrasingly  slows down before it goes in. I have even changed my riding style to get her into 2nd asap before accelerating hard to avoid gear mashing. All other gears are great!

It really is starting to "Grind my Gears :(". I have changed the oil to 4100 Power Motul SAE15W50 suggested by another owner but I am still having issues.

I have ridden this bike for 40,000 Kms and this seemingly is getting worse or is it me???

Does anyone have an idea what it might be? Am I possibly in for a big repair bill?

Any helpful information would be appreciated...thanks.

how long has it been doing this ,from new or has it just started
personally i have never had this problem it snickes into second on mine no problem clutch or no clutch .
just gotta know the sweet spot :D
is your clutch a tad out of adjustment ?

Yes first thing to check is proper clutch adjustment it should have 2 to 3 mm of freeplay. This freeplay should be at the clutch lever another check can be pulling the cable sheath out of the clutch lever and measure free play there. Has your bike had the update kit. If not you have more dogs on second gear which will require the adjustment to be correct so it meshes in with the internal gear. If it is not right and you keep grinding it they will round off. Do get sacared the first thing should be to ensure proper adjustment. That is usually what the problem is.

Hmmm, I have the clutch adjusted by Triumph workshop and funny that they deny I have a problem. It might be due to not a profitable repair under warranty and besides I purchased the bike on-line not from the dealership. Yes, I am an orphan.

Do you have more info on the "Update Kit"? and no it hasn't been updated.

Now that the bike is out of warranty they might be interested.

The bike started doing this about 20000 kms

Thanks

I'll get my clutch looked at again because it really seems an intermitant fault.
