I have a 2012 Rocket 3 Tourer that I purchased new last year. It has 4800 miles on it. I was out for a ride today and as I left the highway and headed down the exit ramp I slowed from 60 mph to about 40 mph at which time I shifted from 5th to 4th. When I released the clutch the engine rpm's jumped way up and the bike slowed as if I slammed it down in first gear. I pulled the clutch in and shifted back up, thinking maybe I was in 2nd not third. After gearing up and while still slowing, now to about 20 mph I let go the clutch and it did it again. High engine rev and the bike slowed quickly again as if it was in first gear, I pulled in the clutch again and coasted to a stopped at the traffic light. Then I shifted down 4 times to first. The bike was in 4th and 5th when it acted this way. I didn't hear any put put put from the exhaust like normal when I gear down too quick. Just the engine RPM's going sky high ( loud whining noise ) and fast & sudden deceleration. After stopping at the light the bike was completely normal again on and off the highway.
Anyone ever experienced anything like this? The bike is under warranty. I called the dealer and they said they never heard of it before and will speak to the other mechanics tomorrow and call me back. I'm worried it may happen at high speed on the highway and result in a nasty wipeout.
