I have been going back and forth trying to decide wether to get a trailer hitch and trailer for my R3T or not... I never could come to terms w/ paying that much for something I would only use on occassion.
I have been talking w/ my father in-law and he wants to pull a trailer behind his HD also. We have discussed buying a trailer together since we probably wouldn't need to use it at the same time. (If we go on a trip together, I would be pulling it 'cause I got the bigger better bike).
Anyway... The question is, Anyone know where I can get a hitch for the R3T? I know I had found 2 places before. One in Australia, one over here somewhere (I think they actually imported from Australia).
I don't remember the name of either place, and I did a search and can't seem to find the info on here.
I found the other place too... Bushtec.
They list that they have a hitch for the Touring on their site, but picture a Standard R3. I had emailed them a while back and confirmed that the hitch is indeed for a R3T.
Twenty-five years ago the backyard welding shop type trailer hitch business came to a screeching halt when the insurance and automobile company lawyers made it too expensive for them to make their own. Hence the establishment of the bolt-on car/truck trailer hitches we now have. You may have trouble finding someone willing to risk product liability problems. Maybe not.
I've been trying to justify it since I bought the bike... I guess it boils down to the fact that I really wanna be able to carry more junk on longer trips... Having someone possibly willing to split the cost of the trailer helps with the justification though...
