Tragic Ural Crash

Back on the fourth of July I had a kid over that my grandson had invited. The 20 years old kid did not have a job but does have a girlfriend that is very much pregnant. So after talking awhile and finding out that this kid despite his faults was pretty bright we got him a job as a bench mechanic were I work. Of course he has no car so until he can afford transportation he rides on the back of the truimph. My fear and shared it with my wife is getting into a Accident with him on the back. My wife just blew it off and committed my experience speaks for itself. Well after reading this post it just confirms my fears and will result in me being even more careful.

I know that not everyone will be on board with what im about to say, but as for me, EVERY morning, before I leave the house, I start my day off by sending up a prayer for my family/friends that includes the overseeing of and protection of those loved ones throughout their day and specifically emphasize protection for those of us that will be on a bike.
No, its not a magic shell of guaranteed protection. But..........
I do believe in prayer. So for those of you that also believe, do all you can to protect your loved ones and yourself

This is a tragic story, my heart goes out to the parents of this boy. I can't even pretend to imagine how the father must feel.

WELL everything I read about this bike is they are complete crap and the worst motorcycle made just a disaster waiting to happen and after reading this info I have to say the URAL is most likely the cause of this tragic accident SO I want others to look over this info on the internet and give an opinion

I have more of the story; Sean was leading the two bikes with his wife in the hack. Dan and Joey were dash two following along. Sean was moving out at a fast pace and Dan was falling behind. In an effort to catch up, he crossed the center line in a curve and could not get back to his side of the road when he saw the SUV coming at them. Dan fully accepts that he over-road the curve and caused the crash. Sean feels that he caused it by riding faster than Dan is accustomed too. We know the cause was rider error and not a manufacture/design error. We all know that even the mighty Rocket can be rode too hard by the rider. The ensuing crash caused by a rider is usually a factor of speed, lack of skill or environmental matters that should have been addressed at the beginning of he ride.
Dan and his wife Diane are devastated. But have already made plans to honor Joey with annual rides and another bike as soon as Dan recovers. Joey loved to ride and brought much happiness to others when he described riding with his dad on many little adventures. It is the love on motors that brings us together, even in a time of loss.

Very sad and sadly nothing will ever relieve the self blame and guilt for all present. Very easy to do on any bike or especially sidecar which are can be less forgiving and committed. The only way I know to try and get out of that situation is more radical steering input and 'flying' the chair around the corner which can be alarming for all when cornering hard and can easily cause a roll over. Braking hard, which unfortunately tends to straighten direction of travel, would not have assisted unless you put in a lot of extra steering input which risks a rollover.

Shocking thing to happen to any family ,just looking at the little bloke in the sidecar with I assume Mum And Dad, they joy on his face and doing something his mates more than likely never get a chance to do
Rest in Peace Little fella
