Too much oil out of sump?

Last time I changed my oil I thought it was all in my head but now it's confirmed....

I drained the rear sump and I got 2 liters (1/2 gallon) of oil out of it. This time it was cold and last time it had just idled for a couple minutes.

The bike runs fine, if there's a problem it has been this way for 13,000km.


I'm concerned! Should I be?

I'm thinking one of the scavenger pumps doesn't work.....

I'm not looking at a schematic but isn't there a check valve that keeps the oil in the tank? It might be stuck open which would let the oil drain back to the sump rather quickly.

Oil from the tank stays up there. I've had the rear sump plug opened for 24 hours with no more oil coming out.

FYI

Mechanics were not concerned about this... they have seen Rockets that spit more with no ill effects.
