We have enough laws telling us tax paying citizens what to do. I can see another thing happening in our society and that is telling people how to THINK. If you don't think the same way as others then you are STUPID and your thoughts don't count.
If your worried about dyeing dont ride a motorcycle on the street.

Why do you think these laws come to be? It's because people are either too stupid, or too arrogant to do the right thing...people are not going to stop using their cell phones while driving unless they're forced to do so, but according to you, that's okay, we should just quit riding if the roads are too dangerous...

Grampi if all you need is a law against cell phone use to make roads safe for motorcycles than why haven't the nanny states that have cell phone laws seen a decrease in Mc accidents. The issue is distracted driving - it's not possible to out law every distraction. And why would you prevent passengers from engaging in a lawful safe activity?

We need a NATIONWIDE law that BANS the use of cell phones (and ALL use, not just texting) while driving, and it needs to be STRICTLY enforced...this is the only way roads will become safer for motorcyclists...

ALL USE of cell phones have NO place in a vehicle.
Whether the use is hands free or not, testing has proven the danger from the distractions.

Using the phone while driving isn't really something you can defend as acceptable. We know, from studies, that just talking on the phone extends your reaction time by some two seconds. That can easily mean the difference between life and death for a motorist. Texting or fiddling with the phone is infinitely worse, since you're not even looking at the road anymore.

So yes, sometimes we need to tell citizens how to think. Because so many of them choose not to.

There are actually apps that help with this, joking aside. AT&T Drivemode (works on other carriers too), and Drivesafe.ly, etc. Auto-answer with texts that you're busy driving, or read stuff to you out loud, etc.

I should always wear my steeltoe boots in my house because your neighbor's uncle's 3rd cousin twice removed, bumped his little toe on and end table in 1897 and got gangrene and had to have it amputated.
