I was thinking of making a european trip with my rocket, during a 2 week period, next year. I have colleagues in Germany that ride and I lived in France for a couple of years so I will probably make a tour from Frankfurt to Munich, Liechtenstein, then northern France (Strasbourg, etc). I was wondering if anyone has shipped their bike over to, say Rotterdam, or other EU port, and then back? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have shipped my r3 twice from vancouver to frankfurt and back this destination is the easiest as far as clearing custom in europe also do not forget to buy euro insurance before leaving and do not forget to get a dangerous good invoice from a broker before showing up at the port of departure ( not required for the return as it is included when shipped first time . any other question let me know

That must be a record.... a few days off 11 years since OP and 2nd post today!

I wonder what the OP thought getting such a prompt reply especially as they haven't been here since Steve was almost 60! Last seen Oct 22, 2009

Now y'all are talking. This is what it's all about.

Just do it -- as the commercial goes, and others have done.

Only live once, and what a way to get the best out of your Rocket.

How about buying or renting a bike here?

I once did this for a friend from the states - ok, in the '90s...

But it was much more convenient that way:

- bought the bike (a used BMW, he always wanted to ride something like that...)
- did the insurance and all the stuff
- he paid for the costs
- after this I sold it again

Ok, in this case it was a really good friend and trust was no problem... but at the end of the day it was much easier. No problem with insurance, number plates, shipping and all the other administrative stuff...

Ah yes, having "our man in Rangoon" can make all the difference. Lacking said special agent . . .
