I know them well, especially Freebird. Played it at my wife's funeral, just like she wanted. Every time it plays when I'm riding, I still lower the passenger pegs.

Now "Credence Clearwater Revival" they I do know and have been one of my favorite bands since I don't know when
 
I was stationed in Florida, Orlando and Jacksonville, starting in 1971. I used to pay a 1 dollar cover charge to see Lynyrd Skynyrd, which was pretty steep at the time to get into bars they played in Jacksonville. After I left FL for Norfolk and then San Diego I never saw them again. But Norfolk VA and San Diego were concert heavens in the mid to late 70s and early 80s.
