Re: why R3T doesn't sell well
I have to agree with everything said. I am a long-distance rider, but don't like riding wings. I like big cruisers and the R3T allowed me to quit whining about my Valkyrie. I put 10K miles on the R3T in the fist 3 months. Trips up/down the west coast, Route 66, bryce/zion/grand canyon, and a pacific northwest loop.
Let's talk price first.I have it better than most, since the '11 R3T came with all the accessories a guy could ever want, for free. The R3T is the most bang for your buck out there. Nothing even comes close to giving us that much bike for under $17K (usd). The only things I've added are TOR pipes, a real horn, and PIAA lights. (oh, and some Kuryaken turn signal mirrors I regret doing)
Performance/comfort: Amen! where is our 6th gear! This bike is a joy at 65mph, but at 90 it vibrates and the engine sounds like a 4cyl rice burner. Still, if I stick to the back roads, with big sweeping turns, it's perfect. My main gripe is that cheesy/cheap-looking plastic radiator cowl. I'd gladly carry the extra few pounds around to have actual metal in there.
Had some issues, for sure. quality control seems to be a weakness of UK manufacturers. But still, less time in the shop than my Road King (hated that lopsided underpowered pig).
