Oh Jims riding buddy must have taught you that, Wasnt running was it but your head probably was thumping from last night and you thought it was, youre a wild man.
Turn key on everything is as it should be with all gauges.
Start the bike and the tach just lays there.
All lights working
Checked for codes found none
Ran tach test all good
Would key switch cause this?
05 with 26K on it.
I haven't seen a failure written up where everything seems fine but is still failing.
Have had THREE tachs on my 2007 Classic. First one my dad dropped on the front crash bars while he was assisting me change handle bars (What can you say, he's your dad!). Replaced with a brand new one ($$$$). that one lasted about 3 years (would move, but between 0 and 3,000 RPM only and got worse). Tried everything to fix, but no go. Replaced with a cheaper used 2005 item (different white face), BUT, still working (Touch Wood).
NO, key-switch cannot cause this issue
(Well, it could but there would be a whole lot more that wouldn't be working before even thinking about the tach)
