When I started my Rocket yesterday the tach did a second sweep. It did the normal sweep along with the speedo when I turned the key to on, but immediately after start the tach did another sweep. No other problems and it didn't do it again.

Has anyone else seen this??

Nope, Sorry.

Sorry, I haven't seen this, but will be looking for the more experienced folks to weigh in. Good that nothing else bad happened, but definitely a question worth asking...

I believe that the ghost of Lucas AKA "The Prince of Darkness" drops in from time to time to visit these bikes just to mess with our heads.

Mine has done it a few times, it's caused by the battery volts falling during startup and the computer does another quick self test power up, nothing to be alarmed about but I would check the tightness of the battery terminals just to be sure.

Battery failu2re

:eek:I have to question the idea that the battery juice level is the culprit. I've had several occassions where the cold soaked and tired battery was insufficient to start the bike but never was a second sweep encountered.

I've got to suspect a faulty ignition switch contact. This symptom is unusual but nothing is usual about ignition switch failure; there are many.

I've had the ignition switch replaced less that 6 months ago. I've very recently experienced new ignition switch symptoms unlike those of the past. These symptoms occurred several times over a three day period but have yet to reoccur again, over the most recent three days. Knock on wood.

That's my 0.02$ worth.

What symptoms did you have?

I had that addition, the symptom(s) encountered, ready to add but this touchy synaptic touchpad decided for me that I didn't need to send it. Cant get my wireless mouse to work on this newly rebuilt dual boot Ubuntu linux. Im an absolute newbie to linux but I know what a grub is:D

Anywho: Previous symptom were no sweep and possibly the lights (some or all) would flicker or nothing at all. Including no fuel pump priming.
The latest occassions were plenty of lights but no sweeps. On one occassion of the several there was no neutral light but it were in fact in neutral, but still no sweeps. The fuel pump was priming.
