I set the shocks on my new Rocket Touring at 3. The ride feels harsh. Regardless of number of riders/luggage, which direction would make the ride softer? I'm assuming towards 1.
Second question: What after market shocks have people put on and how did they help?
Thanks.

Yes going down to 1will make it softer but when I had mine I kept it on 3 which was good enough for me and I think most people has gone with the progressive shocks

seems Hagons and wilberg are seen a lot on R3

best mod for a rocket is hagon nitros made for your weight I hated my bike till I got those . Too bad I wasted 3 years to figure it out.
O.

gday...bit of a blonde versus brunettes question when it comes to suspension...really is personal.

i believe as far as materials, build quality etc you cant really get better than Wilbers. are they worth the extra coin over some of the others???? well once again personal preference.

i dont know specifically about touring as have only ever met 1 owner and that was 1 week ago but as far as R3's in general, there are several fellas running Hagons and they only say good things about them.

i run wilbers and can say that when my mode strikes and im on a solo ride and decide its a smoke and air day, ive never had anything but praise for Wilbers. i have mine setup firm and most wouldnt like them the way i have them but when you land the bike after coming over a crest at 240k you want it landing correctly, flicking it through tight bits is as good as you get from a mammoth and wallowing is non existent through long very fast sweepers.

As far as a sane personal riding on public roads goes, you'd definitely back off the firmness and the beauty with Wilbers is you can customise the exact feel and ride you want. I've got them and love them, they are a little exy but if you can worth every cent.

440

I have Progressive 440 on the back and Progressive spring in front. wHAT A difference they made in the ride and handling

As said its a matter of opinion, here i completely agree with Ponters, why?
I have only ridden two diffrent R3:s my own with stock suspension and the other
was in dealership, that one had Wilbers suspension. Huge difference.
Based on the test ride i ordered Wilbers 640 Nightline and Wilbers progressive
springs for the frontend+forkoil. Over here it cost me 1000€ delivered to my door.
The rear shocks only would have cost 865€.
The shocks are completely rebuildable and upgradable if required.

how much effect does going with a one inch shorter stroke have on the total ride quality?

I have the 1" lowered Hagon Nitros on my roadster, and the cornering performance is a marked improvement, but,,,,,,,,, the foot pegs scrape even easier....... Looks good on the road though.:D

So you're telling me that when I ride with the stock suspension and hit those uneven bridges that bounce me out of my seat, that wouldn't be nearly as bad with some aftermarket shocks on the bike?
